DJAVAN TAKES A BREAK FROM HIS OWN SONGS
For the first time in his career, the popular Brazilian pop star performs the work of other songwriters in his eagerly-awaited new album, Aria.

The list of songwriters featured on Djavan's Aria is comprehensive: they range from his friends Chico Buarque, Edu Lobo and Caetano Veloso to well-known figures of Brazilian music, such as Zé Dantas, Luiz Gonzaga, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes, Othon Russo and Angenor de Oliveira. It even includes some international greats, such as Bart Howard and Wayne Shanklin. Some of the highlights include "Sabes Mentir" (bolero in spanish) "Disfarça e Chora", "Brigas Nunca Mais", "Valsa Brasileira", "West of the Wall" and "Fly Me to the Moon". Issued by the label, Biscoito Fino, Aria is the first volume of a collection of all-time hits to be recorded by Djavan, and will be officially released in September in Sao Paolo, October in Rio de Janeiro and November in Buenos Aires and Santiago de Chile. Djavan Caetano Viana (Maceió, 1949) began his musical career in Rio de Janeiro, where he released the album, A Voz, o Violão e a Arte de Djavan, which included the enduring classic "Flor de Lis". His other hits, "Samurai", "Oceano" and "Sina" attest to his harmonious narrative talent. Djavan, who will also be launching his website, has acknowledged that this new work is a way for him to pay tribute to his main artistic influences. Aria is on the Future Beats list of Gladys Palmera.
