The actual name of the event is the Fusion and Experimental Jazz Creator's Festival and features 17 groups and 70 artists from 10 countries who will perform from 2 to 11 September at the Municipal, Salamandra, Los Cristales and La Tertulia de Cali theatres, as well as three other auditoriums. At the Alfonso Borrero Cabal Auditorium at the University of Javeriana, the Jazz Collector's Convention will take place on 3 September, which will be coordinated by Gary Domínguez, and where Gladys Palmera will have a video link. The central theme of this first meeting will be Mongo Santamaría. Ajazzgo's musical programme includes the Orquesta Filarmónica & Sherry Williams (2 September), Jazz-Tá Ensamble (3rd), Herencia and Se Formó (4th), Jorge Herrera and Holambia (5th), Tamborimba and Ramón Valle (6th), 11:11 and Jaume Vilaseca & Ravi Chari (7th), Jon Fadis (8th), Isaac Quartet & Gianni Oddi and Mario Canonge (9th), Holman Álvarez Trío and Hermeto Pascoal (10th) and Chucho Valdés (11th). The other jazz festivals in Colombia around the same time are also eagerly awaited, such as the 22nd Teatro Libre International Jazz Festival, which will be held in Bogota on the same dates as Ajazzgo; the 14th edition of Barranquijazz from 8 to 12 September in Barranquilla; and the 14th International Jazz & World Music Festival from 9 to 18 September in Medellín. This year's Popayan and Manizales festivals have yet to be confirmed.
