WORLD MUSIC TRIUMPHS IN THE ARAGONESE PYRENEES
The Pirineos Sur Festival bids a fond farewell to 18 consecutive days of continuous music and culture.

The International Festival of Cultures has closed its nineteenth edition with great satisfaction, a sentiment expressed Luis Calvo, the director of the Pirineos Sur Festival, in a press conference and in an interview with Radio Gladys Palmera: "It has been a good festival because our aim of discovering excellent new music has been fulfilled". Novalima, Señor Coconut, La 33, Adanowsky... global sound has been the big winner at the festival. Calvo added that the goals of Pirineos Sur are much more than mere economics: "It's a cultural project to help develop this area and cultural cooperation, so you have to look at everything". Despite it being a difficult year for festival attendances in general and the World Cup being played at the same time, about 50,000 people passed through the festival's various venues, which is similar to previous years. The Vice President of Huesca's Provincial Government, Vicente Juan, thanked the media for their work at the festival (more than 200 journalists from seven countries with official accreditation were present at the festival), the various institutions and organisations involved and "the loyal Pirineos Sur festival goers, who make it such a success". The festival, whose central theme this year was the celebration of the bicentenary of the independence of Latin American republics, has once again reaffirmed itself as one of the most outstanding musical and cultural events in Spain in the summer.
