The organisers of the Cruïlla Barcelona Festival have confirmed that Hocus Pocus will perform on 17 July. The French hip-hop group released 16 Pieces in early 2010, an album that was recommended by Radio Gladys Palmera over several weeks. This is the group's third album, arriving three years after the great success of Place 54. Formed in 1995 in Nantes, Hocus Pocus is an acoustic hip-hop six-piece consisting of 20Syl, Greem, RV, Dadoo, Mat and Ant1. Their recording work can hardly be described as prolific, but their impact is clearly evident. 73 Touches and Place 54 have been two of the best albums of 21st Century French rap, so 16 Pieces was eagerly awaited. Always mysterious (their name conjures up something magical), they again revert to numbers for their latest album title and continue to use high calibre guest artists. On the track "A Mi-Chemin", for example, they are joined by the equally mysteriously named rapper and soulman Akhenaton. "As the title suggests, it's a puzzle-album with separate shapes that all fit together", they explain". Hocus Pocus is one of the main highlights of the Cruïlla Barcelona Festival to be held at the Parc del Fòrum on 16 and 17 July.
